In the absence of a vaccine that works, and against a backdrop of growing drug resistance and dwindling financial support, the global decline in malaria cases has stalled.  Physician Alex Kumar visited a research site on the Thai-Myanmar border, where genetic mutations in the parasite causing the disease have rendered treatment ineffective.
