I was lucky to be invited to interview Apollo 15 Astronaut Al Worden at New Scientist Live in London, UK.
Al is only one of 24 men who have flown to the moon.
And is in the World Guinness Book of Records as the “Most isolated human being”.
He completed the first deep space EVA – as photographed here.
More than all of that – he shared his life story with humility, wit and charm. He was completely down to Earth – a true Gentleman.
Here is his Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Worden
“Look but don’t touch”
Al signed and dedicated a moon map of his mission’s landing site to/ for me – this is from the man who flew around the moon by himself for 3 days but never landed!
Al’s book is Falling to Earth:

Look out for the interview in print …
