Alexander Kumar stationed in Antartica

Alexander Kumar (OS 2001) is currently stationed in Antarctica where he is running physiological and psychological research projects on behalf of the European Space Agency’s human spaceflight and exploration programme.

Alexander, along with 12 other Europeans, will spend a year at their new home at the Concordia Research Station, 3233 metres above sea level on the Antarctic Plateau.

The station is located 1100km inland from the French research station at Durmont D’Urville and is 1670km from the geographic south pole and 560km from Russia’s Vostok station.
